Can you transfer my website including my files, databases and images from my previous hosting provider to your servers? Print

The answer depends on a few key factors:

Proprietary Platforms:

If your current website was built or hosted using proprietary software (Wix, Weebly etc...), a rebuild will likely be necessary. Unfortunately, some providers maliciously lock clients into their platform, making the website non-transferable.

Open Source Platforms:

If your website was built using open-source technologies, or if you're able to obtain a full backup from your current provider, we can usually transfer your site without issue.

At Northwoods Web Designs, we build all websites using open-source technologies. This means you’re never locked into our services, you always have the freedom to move your website if needed.

That said, in many cases, transferred websites are outdated and don’t reflect modern design standards or current business goals. For this reason, we often recommend a redesign during the transfer process. This ensures your new site is not only up to date but also well-maintained and professionally supported by our trusted team.
