Configure POP Accounts - How to remove Copies of Email stored on the Server Print

Instructions for how to change this setting for various popular email programs are below. (Note that these instructions are specific to “POP” accounts )

Netscape Communicator

Click on the following…

Preferences
Mail and [news]groups
Mail Servers
From here, double-click on pop.lmi.net in the Incoming Mail Server section.
Click on the POP tab and uncheck the box marked “Leave messages on server.”

Eudora Light 3.0.6 (Windows)

Uncheck the box marked “Leave mail on server.”

Eudora 7 (Windows)

From the Tools menu, choose Options.
Scroll through the categories and select Incoming Mail.
In the Incoming Mail options window, turn on the Leave mail on server option.
Select the Delete from server after _ days box and set the maximum number of days that copies of your email messages should be kept on the server.

Outlook Express 5.x (Windows)

Tools
Accounts
Double click on your LMi mail account to open properties
click the Advanced tab
uncheck “Leave a copy of messages on server”

Outlook 2003 (Windows)

From the Tools menu, open E-mail Accounts
Select “View or change existing e-mail accounts” and click Next
Double click on your LMi mail account, then click the More Settings button
Click the Advanced tab
Uncheck “Leave a copy of messages on the server”
Click OK, then Next, then Finish

Mozilla Thunderbird (Mac or Windows)

From the Tools menu, open Account Settings
In the Account Settings window, click on Server Settings
uncheck “Leave messages on server”

Windows Mail (Windows Vista)

From the Tools menu, open Accounts
Within that window, double-click on your LMi.net email account
Click the Advanced tab
Uncheck “Leave a copy of messages on the server”
Click OK, then click Close.

Eudora Pro 3.1 and up (Mac)

Uncheck the box marked, “Leave on server for ___ days.”

Entourage 2004 (Mac)

From the Tools menu, open Accounts
Double click on your LMi mail account to open the “Edit Account” window
click the Options tab
uncheck “Leave a copy of messages on server”

Apple Mail (OS 10.3 and above)

From the Mail menu, open Preferences.
Click on the Accounts button, then click your account on the left side.
Click the Advanced tab.
check “Remove copy from server after retrieving a message:”
